Hi I'm Back

Hello to you all- just trying out my blog again. Lots has happened since the last turkey butchering day- can't seem to find the photos I want so shall post some later maybe. We have had a busy year so far- have moved from sixplex to Jon's new house on 91 street - are slowly getting things into shape - are enjoying it very much. Have been on many small excursions as well as a big trip to Mexico - Guadalajara to be exact. What a lovely time- got to meet Trever & Joanne, Silas & Kenia there and enjoy their warm hospitality. Also had opportunities to serve the RETO church there by painting their little kitchen and putting up shelves etc. Then were able to go to Lake Chapala to the Oasis Resource Center - met Dean & Nelda Long and crew - had a very interesting time there - lovely people. Ed fixed bird houses, put handles on tools, customized a desk, etc. etc and I got to use some of my experience at the FSJ drop in center and cooked some very different meals.
Have also been able to go to Sask to a 60th anniversary celebration and to Stettler AB to see Ian- Ed's been to New York on a fact finding mission as well as to Salmon Arm to a Trade Show. Have also celebrated two nephew's weddings here- Michael & Alaina as well as Andrew and Becky - such good times! Now are enjoying Krista & Mark who are visiting for a few days. So glad to be back - shall continue more news when it happens!

Turkey Butcher Day

On Friday the 8th of Dec - Ed & I were invited to help butcher 29 turkeys at Goulds in Goodlow! What a fun but tiring day - Mary Fletcher, Betty VanderLinden and Ford and Suzy, Kevin- riding shotgun - yes he killed them with his gun and Percy and Ed & I were working in their shop. We got a 24 lb beauty as a reward! Thanks for the experience!

Added pics

Just a few added pics of Jon's house building.

Longtime no blog!

Hey there - we are in FSJ in our sixplex- staying warm in the -35 C weather! Brrr! The Lord has been good - has been helping us along- helped us make the move smoothly and settle in. Ed has been so happy to do his Tim Horton ministry - is close enough for him to walk there almost every morning and visit in his open office there! Loves it! We are enjoying being with Ev & Randy and his nephew Lance in the same sixplex - lots of visits and fun! Jon is slowly working on his house - too cold to actually work right now but the weather is going to warm up some this week they say. From Bibles Studies to quilting classes to concerts to banquets- we are kept fairly busy. God is so good to us!

July addition

A potpourri of pics - very precious grandson and parents and wedding pics and shed hauling and Ed in the shed!

July already

Are still in the process of moving on. Had a lovely weekend July 1 - took a trip to Calgary to Eveleena & Justin Alexander's wedding - was great. Also got to see lots of family and friends and also got to visit with our kids - David & Mary & little Ian - who is such a precious little guy - so smiley and content. Had a visit this last week from Michael & Jon with Connie, Freddy,Marina and Fabien - visitors from Germany - came to check out the buffalo and they also were able to go horseback riding with Charissa & Brittany. Such nice kids - Last week they had an exciting time caving in the Crows Nest Pass with a bunch of cousins and enjoyed it thoroughly. Would love to know how to put some pics on this but have been having some problems and some readjustments so shall see if this gets posted!

June it is!

For better or Clayhurst
yikes it's the middle of June already! Have been in the process of trying to find buyers for our acreage - have probably got some interested people - hope to be able to move on around the end of August - we don't know exactly where to yet - maybe help Jon build his house in FSJ or we have the option of moving closer to Dad in Hythe. The Lord knows our path. Till then we are slowly throwing/giving away "stuff". Man what a lot of(useless) things we surround ourselves with - do we feel more secure because we have them or are we just so stupid we can't see that they tie us down and we aren't free to do what we should be doing because of these "precious things"? May the Lord help us to discern what is useful and what is dross!
Have been on another grain truck excursion to Savannah - got lost with a grain truck - almost need 40 acres to turn around - but enjoyed the day immensely. Also have been to Fairview, to Hythe, FSJ and Dawson Creek - not in the grain truck though! So good to hear that Elvin Penner is settled in his little home in Castor AB and has also been able to get a new vehicle - how he loves to drive - so he headed to Herbert SK to visit family! Tasha & Steve Penner were up for a short weekend visit - so good to see them and their growing boys.
Buffaloeing is still going on as usual - feeding, sorting, etc continues. The spring crops are mostly in the ground except the silage stuff which can go in later because it needs to be fairly green to harvest.
I don't have a garden this year so have a summer fallow patch. Have some lettuces and radishes on the deck - oh and also chives. Shall maybe be able to get raspberries this year yet. Days have been lovely and hot - now I enjoy that wind!
Have had such lovely pictures of little Ian - he is a delight - would love to be able to see him more often. Shall try and keep more current on the blog - not while I'm moving though!

April update

April showers have come. Yesterday - the 19th Ed & I were able to go to Grande Prairie together - in the grain truck. Long bumpy ride but we enjoyed the time we could spend together. And yes there is a free lunch - stopped in at grand opening of UFA and received free beef on a bun and drink and even a prize!
Buffalo are calving already - some cute little ones!
I (Carol) was able to spend some time in Stettler with David, Mary & little Ian - what a lovely time I had. Doing the grandma thing. Thanks Dave & Mary! Ian is a lovely, contented child and is growing so fast - especially enjoyed his smiles and baby talks! We had a good time and Dave & Mary are such relaxed new parents - God is faithful and sooo good! Also had a great visit with Steve & Tasha & boys - those little guys are sure growing too.
Our friend Elvin Penner is moving to southern AB - we will miss him dearly but know the Lord will bless him there with his sons and their families.
